Alice Maude Ryder, born on the 26th of August 1881, in Petrolia was James and Frances sixth child and third daughter in a total of eight children. When James died the family moved back to Acton and Maude was in her seventh year. She was a good student and often received mention in the local newspaper for her accomplishments at school. Maude married Robert John Bell, son of William and Jane (McDowell) on the 30th day of May 1906 in Toronto, Ontario. After the wedding they went to Acton to reunite with family for the celebrations. On their return to Toronto they took up residence on Logan Avenue in the eastern part of Toronto. John and Maude had two children Kelvin, born in 1907, and William, in 1911. John died in 1941 in Toronto after a lengthy illness. Maude died on May 26th, 1965, in the palliative care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto. Her burial took place three days later at the Pine Hills Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.
