Frances Joy Parmeter daughter of Harold "Harry Parmeter (1908 - 1949) and Editha Waud (1908 - 1999), was born in St-Catheriness, Ontario December 3, 1934. She had an older brother John, five years her senior and would have two younger sisters. All of the children would be born in St-Catherines. Both parents are buried in Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines, Niagara Regional Municipality, Ontario. Joy lost her father (a young man of forty-four), when she was just ten years old, leaving her mother to raise the four children on her own. While, as a child, she lived not only in St Catherines, but for awhile in Montréal, Québec and also Toronto, Ontario. It was here that Joy met Darcy Bell. Darcy had recently separated from his first wife, and Joy was living in Scarborough, with her widowed mother and younger sisters. She would have been about sixteen at the time, and he a year older than her brother. I am not just sure how and where my brother met Joy but he was definitely drawn to her, and she to him.
If Darcy did not pick a steadfast partner the first time, her certainly did with his second.
