The Knights of Cornwall
My Knight ancestors which I have recently researched has provided me with a plethora of information.
Henry Knight (1700-1774) and Elinor Hicks (1707-1778) (5th Great-Grandparents)
Henry Knight was born on December 11, 1700, in Saint Winnow, Cornwall, England. He married Elinor Hicks on December 29, 1732, in her hometown of Saint Minver. Elinor was born on July 21, 1707. The distance between the two villages would have been about nineteen miles or two hours by horse and cart.
They had four children in fourteen years and remained in Saint Minver, for generations.
Henry died on January 25, 1774, in Cornwall, England, at the age of seventy-four, and was buried in St. Minver, Cornwall, England. Elinor died four years later in 1778 in her hometown at the age of 71. I would think she would be in the same same resting place.
It is quite possible they would be buried in the st. Menefreda Churchyard, St Minver Highlands, Cornwall Unitary Authority, Cornwall, England. If not it would be another close to the village.

Henry Knight (1746-1816) and Jennifer Mitre (1749-1788) (4TH GREAT-GRANDPARENTS)
Henry Knight and Jennifer Mitre were the parents of my ancestor John Knight. People did not travel much or far in the 1700s, which often makes it easier to locate them — until they immigrated to a new country. A common problem in research arises with names. As the naming pattern was usually followed, sons were named after grandfathers and fathers and daughters after grandmothers and mothers (order was usually paternal then maternal); we fall on many people with the same name. While the date of birth can be a big help, often cousins etc.; end up with the same name as other cousins, causing further confusion as to who is who.
My research so far with Henry or {Henery} Knight is as follows. He was born in Saint Minvers in 16 Dec 1746 to parents Henry and Elinor (Eliz) Hicks. He marred Jenifer Miter (Mitre) born 08 Apr 1749, in Saint Kew, Cornwall, England, daughter of Charles Miter(act 1726-1800) and Patience Snell (1723-1788). The couple married in Saint Minver 12 Jul 1778.

JOHN KNIGHT (1780-1862) AND MARY MILLER (1777-1860) (3rd GREAT-GRANDPARENTS)
John Knight, father of Richard Knight, was born in St. Minver, Cornwall, England in 17 Sep 1780, according to the sources I have found. His parents were Henry Knight and Jenifer Mitre. He married Mary Miller from Titagel, Cornwall, England approximately hour one north from Saint Minver along the Cornish coast. November 20 1803 in the parish of Saint Minver, daughter of John Miller (1741-) and Miriam Roos (1745
In 1805, John and Mary had their first son Thomas born on January 13th in Saint Minver. I have no other information of Thomas.
Next, came a girl Jenifer "Jenny" born on the April 5 1807. Jenny married Thomas Tucker (1806-1864) son of John Tucker (1779-1843) and Mary Prout (1762-1869). They produced a family of eight — three boys and five girls.
William, their third was born on the August 6, 1809 in Saint Minver. William would marry Elizabeth Gill (1807-), daughter of Richard Gill (1776-) and Sarah (1781-1842); 12 July 1832 in St Minver, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Elizabeth was one of at least nine children. The couple would have four children from their union.
Son, Henry, born January 26 1812 was next. I have no marriage for him but he died at age 40 or 41 in Bodmin, Cornwall,
John, followed October 10th 1814.
The youngest son born December 28, 1823, was Richard, (my second great-grandfather) named for his maternal grandfather. He would marry Elizabeth Phillips and after her death, Fanney May. (More can be found on Richard, Fanney and Elizabeth).
John and Mary appear to have lived all their married life in Saint Minver. They appear in the 1851 census for the area and John is described as a laborer for the highways. He is seventy years of age at the time and Mary is seventy-four. In the following 1861 census he is still working as a labourer at 80 years of age and living with his son William.
