Mother's Day 2020This Sunday May 10th 2020 is Mother's Day. It will be quite different from many in the past. Families will not be able to celebrate with those who do not live in their immediate household making extended family gatherings not possible. Those who can will use technology to at least see family through a video chat. There are those who are to old or unable to participate in even with family. My mother-in-law at 97 is in a long-term healthcare facility in Québec. They are all on lockdown. She will not understand why the annual pilgrimage to her place does not take place. She will not be alone. Many other mothers share her situation. We of course will call her and try to chat but both state of mind and hearing loss will make it a challenge for all. Hopefully we will be able to visit in the fall for her 98th birthday. Time will tell. I have put together a slideshow of "Mothers" in our family from past generations who we will honour as well. Among them my great-aunt who while a spinster, raised my mother from a young age and I also included my mother-in-law who is still with us. Enjoy. Listen to the following while watching the slide show. If you click on the title the song will open in an new window. Then return to the page and watch the show by clicking on the play button on the picture below. More tributes below the show.
